Ohio Interstate Under Water
GRANVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- -- Flooding has closed Interstate 70 east of Columbus, following more rain overnight coming on top of several inches that fell Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Regional spokeswoman, Kate Stickle with the Ohio Department of Transportation, says officials don't expect to reopen a section of the highway in Licking County before early Saturday morning. She says more rain that's in the forecast could keep the road closed even longer.
The State Highway Patrol said Friday that both eastbound and westbound vehicles were being detoured in the Buckeye Lake area. Stickle says I-70 traffic is backed up for several miles in each direction.
